REVIEW • GARNIER BODY TONIC09:00
A while back, I was on the hunt for a new body scrub and came across the Garnier Body Tonic Sugar Scrub in Superdrug. Luckily, there was a 2 for 1 offer, so I decided to pick up the Lotion too. As I have been using them for a while now, I thought it would be great to do a quick review and share my thoughts with you all.
1. Garnier Body Tonic Sugar Scrub, 200 ml (£7.15)
I mainly use the scrub the night before I shave and the day after, in order to prevent in-grown hairs. Personally, I think this is hands down one the best scrubs I've tried as its dense consistency not only exfoliates the skin well, but a little goes a very long way. I also really like the scent of it which, contrary to the apple on the packaging, actually smells quite lemony and zesty.
Garnier claims that after using it, your skin will immediately feel 'noticeably smoother'. To be honest, this wasn't the case for me. But after using it for a week or so, I did start to feel more of a difference. It also claims that in 3 weeks, your skin should feel more toned, but again I can't really say that has been the case for me.
Despite this, I would still recommend this scrub as I really like how smooth it has made my legs, which is what I primarily bought it for. I would definitely rate this above my previous Soap & Glory scrub (crazy, I know!) and re-purchase in the future.
2. Garnier Body Tonic Lotion, 400 ml (£6.99)
I like to use the lotion alongside the scrub, or whenever I want to feel refreshed. Unlike the dense nature of the scrub, it has a gel-milk texture which feels really cooling on the skin. Therefore, not only is it great for after shaving to soothe any razor bumps you get, but I can see this being a great alternative to my after-sun lotion. It is also fast-absorbing, and neither greasy nor sticky, which is a must for me as I hate the feeling of moisturisers on my hands after I have applied it. Also, sticky skin in the hot summer heat is not a great feeling! Finally, like the scrub, it has that amazing lemony and zesty scent.
Garnier claims that the lotion should tone and tighten you skin but, like the scrub, I can't really say I've noticed a difference. But then again, it's not really something I've looked out for as I primarily just want smoother skin.
However, I would still repurchase this as I love the cool feeling of it when applied, and how smooth it makes my skin along with the scrub. You also get so much product in the bottle, but need very little of it.
I can definitely see these two being part of my summer essentials. What are your summer skin essentials? xo
